I would like to share my recent experience. It has been about two months since I came to Australia.
Two weeks ago, a cyclone caused a power outage in Brisbane. The length of the power outage depended on the area, but in my house, we had no electricity for about a week. I think my neighborhood was one of the most affected. Of course, we couldn’t charge our phones or computers, and since the refrigerator stopped working, all the food inside went bad. It was very stressful and difficult for me.
At night, my family gathered around candles, talked, and played card games together. St' paul school was closed for three days and students stayed at home. During this time, I thought deeply about how important electricity is.We humans depend on electricity, we can barely do anything. This made me feel a little helpless.
However, during that week, I was able to see thousands of stars in the sky. I usually couldn’t see because of the bright city lights. This experience left a deep impression on me.
Australian politicians were offering free pizza and ice cream to people affected by the power outage.
The exam starts next week, so I will do my best to demonstrate what I have learned. Thank you for reading to the end.
