We traveled from Narita Airport to Brisbane by Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur. At first, I was worried about the transfer, but it went very smoothly, and we arrived safely in Brisbane. I was also happy to find that the food at Kuala Lumpur Airport was very good.
After meeting my host family, we went together to South Bank, one of the most famous places in Brisbane. My host family taught me how to use trains, buses, and ferries. South Bank has a large park and a swimming pool, and many people were enjoying swimming and relaxing in the sun.
On the third day, I went to a park with my host family. There, I played with a ten-year-old girl, her younger brother, and their cousin. We became friends when the girl asked me, “Do you want to try?” after I watched her flying a toy airplane. They talked to me a lot, but I could not understand everything. When I looked confused, they spoke more slowly and explained things kindly. I felt a little disappointed in my English ability, so I decided to study more English vocabulary. This experience was very meaningful to me.
This is my first homestay experience in an environment without any Japanese people, so I use English every day. By communicating in English daily, I can learn new words and expressions. I hope to improve my English communication skills through this valuable experience.
