【St Paul’s 2026】オーストラリア3か月留学日記19

今日はNさんからの報告です。日本とオーストラリアの学びの違いが書かれています。

I currently live in Australia and have been here for about a month and a half. I would like to write about my school life and the differences between Japan and Australia.
I attend St. Paul's School in Brisbane. School life here is interesting and a little different from Japan. Many classes involve group work. We discuss topics with our classmates and share our opinions. For example, in some classes, we split into groups and think about answers together. This allows students to share different opinions, which I think helps them understand the lessons more deeply.

Students study a variety of subjects similar to those in Japan, including English, math, science, and cooking. However, the content of classes can sometimes be different from Japan. For example, math is taught in English, so understanding the questions is sometimes difficult. At first, it took me a while to read the questions, but I gradually got used to it.

Some classes focus on practical activities. In cooking classes, students actually cook food. These classes are very enjoyable because students learn by doing, not just listening to the teacher.

During lunchtime, many students eat outside while chatting with their friends. The school is very spacious and has many areas where students can play. Some students play sports like soccer or basketball, while others just relax and chat with friends. It's a great time to refresh before the next class.

There are also some differences between Japan and Australia. In Australia, students often discuss with each other and work in groups during class. This means students talk more and share their thoughts. In Japan, on the other hand, students tend to listen to their teacher carefully and take notes quietly.

However, there are also some similarities between the two countries. For example, school rules are almost the same as in Japan. Students are expected to follow the rules and behave well at school.

Studying abroad in Australia is a very valuable experience for me. Not only do I learn English, but I can also experience a different culture and ways of learning. I believe this experience will help me grow and gain a deeper understanding of the world.
