As the students shift away from trying to take over the island into understanding and appreciating the rich natural geography and history of the island, it became paramount to explore more. In the morning, students went to the southern tip to see a beautiful area called the Bkue Grotto. The sea caves reflect blue light onto its walls, creating a magical experience for all our students. The boats were a bit rough for some but most agree it was worth the trip.
A short distance away was a section of the second oldest megalithic settlement known as Hagar Qim. We stopped by to see an exciting movie about the site and then experienced it firsthand. One student named O-san said, "Today I went to the Blue Grotto and Hajayim Temple. Blue Grotto is very beautiful. The water was crystal clear and impressive. And I bought souvenirs in Blue Grotto. Also,I went to Hajayim Temple. It’s good place.I thought there was a mysterious power there.'
It was back to school for the students. They practiced food vocabulary and conversations - perfect for our delicious evening meal of salad and carobonara.
In the evening several students headed to the rooftop to look for the Perseid meteor shower. The light pollution from the city hampered our mission but several stars were seen. It was a busy but productive day.
