Eight is an auspicious number so students were excited for the day (two 8s) and whatever it would bring. We travelled to a university behind the language school where the students were able to meet allies in their search to bring the gospel of Kogakuin to Malta. The university students were eager to hear about our school and Japanese culture. In return the university students introduced some strategic ways to win over the local population (learning the language, respecting the culture). Everyone came away from the meeting as better people.
In the afternoon we walked to the language school for the daily regiment. The students thought about professions and what they would like to do in the future. H-san gave the following thought -
"Today I taught Japanese culture to Maltese university students and had a Q&A session with them. It was the first time for me to have a one-on-one conversation with a foreigner, and they were very kind to me, speaking in a way that was easy for me to understand and listening intently to my poor English.
I had an impression that people who have tattoos or smoke without permission are scary, but I realized that people are not what they seem and there are many kind-hearted people in Malta."
In the evening students were treated to a delicious meal of chicken caesar salad and gnocchi in cheese sauce. A good time was had by all.
